Richard Cabourn MP for Sheffield Central voices his views over the 'economic madness' of cutting off a regeneration area (Park Hill) from the city centre of Sheffield, during the protest about the following.

This is about East Midland's trains' proposal to put ticket gates into Sheffield station, which would cut off Park Hill from the city centre. The footbridge is the only direct way of getting into the city from Park Hill.

  • Barriers do stop some scumbags getting on the trains and being a pain, but surely they could fit the gates somewhere that won't affect the public footbridge? But as an old railwayman l can tell you that these days they won't let common sense get in the way of a good cock-up...

  • I completely agree!!

  • why cant people just walk over that bridge nr pnds forge or am i bein thick? lol

  • It's good to hear an elected representative opposing the installation of the barriers. Unfortunately, it is the unelected Lord Adonis and East Midland Trains who have the power in this matter. Democracy...what is democracy?
