Surrey County Show 09. Welsh Section A ponies. The little silver/gold with white socks and pink muzzle won first place. Tough choice between him and the dark bay with 4 white socks. Not sure what the technical term for the winner's coat colour is. The little strawberry roan was my favourite, probably his first show bless him, he was so young, and so well behaved!

Second of my Welsh Section A videos.

  • I used to show on the welsh ciruit and these all look imported.. was this overseas?

  • No, hence "Surrey" county show. As in the county of Surrey in South East England. I'm not familiar with Welsh ponies, what do you mean by imported?

  • Im not from Europe.. so i have no idea about the counties in England lol! In America we often buy horses/ponies from Europe, Australia, etc.. and bring them here, we import them.

  • Woops, should have checked where you were from lol. Well then yeah I guess these would be imported then to you :) But this is their homeland (sort of) This whole show was about celebrating our native breeds in particular. So there were lots of Fell, Dales, New Forest, Welsh, and Shetland ponies on display.

  • Came here for horses, only saw big dogs.

  • IMHO (which may be completely off) the 'first place' you talk about- looks like he is either a palomino born going grey (my elderly palomino stallion has a daughter that is out of a grey mare and is going grey that looks like him) OR a palomino with a lot of the "smutt gene' which I do not know the term technical term for the gene, but my new stud colt has it, in him it 'low-lights' his under carriage.-

  • Sorry, forget to ask if you had any advice?. :-)

  • I want to get into showing but I come from a eventing family, so i've only been shown the basics to anything like this.....by the way amazing ponies, much more behaved than mine. :-) xxxx

  • aww cute
