Thao, by Christopher Adler, composed 1997. Performed at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore, August 9, 2009, by Kelly Loh, flute, Wang Jin, oboe, Hu Xueqian, violin, Yang Heran, contrabass, Tan Chui Ling, vibraphone, Akari Tsuruta, marimba, and Christopher Adler, ching. This composition is one of my early experiments with the structure and form of Thai classical music, with also much inspiration from Balinese gamelan rhythms. Here the telescoping 'thao' form is re-ordered with the slowest section at the end. www.christopheradler.com
