I created this little spinning tardis illusion for Doctor Who Adventures issue # 42. How it works should be pretty self explanatory (based on a Victorian toy known as a phenakistiscope) and it produces quite a nice illusion of motion. It looks better in reality than it does on screen as you don't get all the focusing, contrast and sync problems.

  • nice one, where can i get a template for making one myself?

  • For that one a back issue of doctor who adventures No 42 will do (you'll find it on ebay) BUT they're publishing one with a Dalek next Thursday. That will be issue No 57

    or you can try searching for "phenakistiscope" on wikipedia

  • Presentation of practical effects of motion and physics is to be commended and simplicity of creating these effects is astounding. I rekon the Fibonacci Sequence spin is next .. 1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,144,2­77.. make a mechanical Spiral effect !
