On 6 June 2011 - the 167th birthday of the YMCA - the Rt Hon Frank Field MP delivered this year's George Williams Founders Day Lecture.
In his lecture Mr Field paid tribute to the YMCA's founder, George Williams, and the work of YMCAs across the country.
However Mr Field posed a critical question to the audience namely, if George Williams was sitting today above the drapery shop in St Pauls Churchyard devising the creation of the YMCA, knowing what we now know, would the focus of the work of the YMCA still be the same?
