A novel project in Lower East Side Manhattan aims to create a green public space underground. The Lowline Project aims to create a public space out of an abandoned underground streetcar terminal. Using revolutionary technology, the project will transfer sunlight underground via fiber optic cables. The system filters out harmful UV rays while carrying the light necessary to support plant life and redistributing it underground.
