Good stuff dude, Aikido is very effective. It is to bad these keyboard warriors will never understand Martial Arts.

@EnsoAikido snap his elbow when you first start turning his elbow. but you won't understand as my brother just informed me this is how aikido is practiced and attempted to be used. so good luck

I totally agree, but then that is why i stopped prcticing traditional Aikido and eventually created the DS Omega program to test any given technique in realistic circumstances Don't get me wrong, i LOVE aikido only i find it very limited for real life situations What you are doing is recombining Aikido with the stuff Osensei left out from ju jitsu and the other root style, to come up with a more "refined" and internal developing means of self defecnce. Never the less you're doing ok!

@Jarno1510 This is true, but sometimes we may not succeed in avoiding a bad situation. In these cases we can't just give up. We need options to try to recover, no?

imo the only correct aikido answer to a headlock is "use movement (eg. tai sabaki) to avoid getting headlocked in the first place".
aikido is suppose to break and the pinch just sounds impractical

@SKKTatsu I don't understand what you mean by "aikido is supposed to break." If you don't like the pinch, you can strike the groin instead, as I mentioned toward the end of the video...

@EnsoAikido i meant break your opponent down sorry

@SKKTatsu Ok... so in this technique, the attacker is brought face-down on the ground. How much more broken down can you get?

The only Aikido related thing in this whole video is the sankyo. I've seen all the rest before, just not in aikido... the pinch sure works in about 70% of the unexpected training situations where you arn't trying to actuammy hurt or kill someone.. I tried it in more real circumstances and it just made him squeeze harder untill i stopped pinching and had to resort to more brutal techniques like the groin, spleen and eyes, but thats not aikido either thats trying to survive.

@Jarno1510 Not sure what to say to this. I thought this video was ABOUT the sankyo. Exploiting anatomical vulnerability and using atemi for distraction as needed (i.e. groin strike) is part of Aikido as I learned it. Gozo Shioda wrote that in his experience, applied Aikido was ~70% atemi. My feeling is you must do something to break the hold, so start with the pinch and work up in severity from there. Once the hold is broken, take the sankyo and go with it...
