Making a custom western saddle

I have trained as a westernsaddle maker. It started off with me wanting the perfect saddle for my horse The Tarq. But I wanted to do the carving myself. So I learned leathercarving. And why not learn leather sowing as well? and in the end I trained as a saddler. In this slideshow I show th Tarq being measured, and the tree fitted, and some of the stages of making the saddle.
The saddle is very tough and has endured many hardships. It keeps looking better the more use it gets!

Great ideas in the tooling, and cut (pattern pieces) of the leather. Steele makes great trees. I like doing "non-traditional" tooling designs too, and hope to post more videos of my hawaiian style saddles. Also cool to see another lady saddlemaker. Aloha to you from Hawaii. Thanks for sharing!

why doesn't it have a horn ?

This is an endurance tree. Which I choose because I don't like to have a horn on my saddle. I don't see the point of having something on my saddle which I don't use. And I don't plan to go after the expensive pedigree Dutch milking cows anytime soon... ;)
