I'm not trying to say that Sonic Youth is racist, I just wonder why they would throw that in this song when it really doesn't have much to do with it. Also, it's more of a myth that men make more than men. I'm not saying the discrimination never happens, but saying women make $.75 for every $1 men make is not fair. Men tend to choose careers such as engineering and business roles, while women tend to choose careers in nursing and education. It's more of a career choice than education.
How are people under "male white corporate oppression" though? Affirmative Action has made it mandatory to hire people of a minority group in someway, whether it be religion, sex, race, or anything else. There are also grants such as "African American" grants, and "Latino" grants, would it be racist to offer a "White" grant, or a "Caucasian" grant? Where is the oppression taking place? If anything I see these as golden opportunities that are not being taken advantage of much.
I would say it's more feminist statement then racist. And the proof lies everywhere. For example most men will get higher salary for the same position then women. I'm white man and I live in white man society. I admit it. It's hard to resist to the heritage :) The LOL was for calling SY racist. Nothing can be far from truth.
My mistake, it has Chuck D in it talking to the lead singer who is white and she asks him "are you gonna liberate us girls from male white corporate oppression?". Look up the lyrics, I'd really like to see proof of the male white corporate oppression they're talking about.
THis song has a presumably white woman talking to a presumably black male and she asks him "are you gonna free us from male white oppression?". That's a racist lie.
this song is about ll cool j ... "walking with a kitty" (walking with a panther) "kool thing" (cool j) "play with your radio" (i cant live without my radio by ll cool j) "i dont think so" (going back to cali - i dont think so)
ops, i jizzed in my pants

Sorry, that last part should have said discrimination, not education.
