There are many jazz songs with lyrics. You just need to search under jazz singers like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole (yes, he was a jazz musician before he started doing popular music, in fact he is one of the top jazz pianists of all time). Check them out.

I won't bother to scroll down and find out who, but good lord, some drummer is actually complaining about the feel here? The whole key to the Ellington sound is the lope -- the drag -- the SLINKY feel. If you play metronomic time to this, you ruin it. Grow some ears and understand you have to sit back behind the horn section!

The older a wooden instrument is, the richer it's sound.

True also of violins, guitars; true even of drums. Well said! Seasoned wood serves a musician well.
