@rockincarbonara , thanks for your informations but Freed changed the name a month after hearing "Sixty Minute Man" by the Dominoes (1951).
According to many music specialists (not only "people"), there were some RNR songs even older than SMM (a good example is Fats Domino's "The Fat Man"(1949), which i believe it's the first RNR song by a pure Rock artist, no matter how the genre was called back then.

I just want to say, that this whole popular style of the time was actualy knowend as "R&B" mostly consumed by colored audience. But it had to take around 5 to 6 years until *Allen Freed* realized, that a millions of young white teenagers went crazy about it.
So, because of economic and social reasons he changed the name in to "Rock´n´Roll". And as we know today, it did hit like a bomb!
Today, people naturaly use to say that this style belongs to "Rock". wich is actualy not correct ;-)

Wynonie recorded "Good Rockin' Tonight" in 1948, Louis Jordan recorded "Saturday Night Fish Fry" in 1949, both are considered rock by many historians (including RNR Hall of Fame critics).
I don't think there are other rock and roll songs older than those two.

Oh.. i gues there were a few "first Rock´n´Roll Songs" on that time *gg* It took around 5 years to change the name of the style.
