When did your male cockatiel start whistling? I have a 9 month old cockatiel and it hasnt whistled a thing. i think it' a girl and I handfed it since it was 2 wks old. Did you know it was a male when you first got him? He is gorgeous

A youtuber told me it's a male because it can carry a tune. The lutino male tends to have bigger orange patch on cheek and higher crest, but it's very hard to tell when it's a baby. My tiel starts to whistle when it's around 3 months old. I would sing do re mi to it whenever I'm around him and he eventually picks up the melody :-) A friend of mine has a female tiel and it only chirps. It likes to push things under its belly, pretending it's incubating.

No worries, the little guy in the back has its stomach full already! It's the youngest and is the most hungry one during every feed, begging for food like crazy. I made sure I fed it first so I can have peace filming this video. Look how the crop is full and the yellowish color of the food is visible below the translucent skin below its neck at the back.

clever 'tiel! I have a young male & after 3 months he is starting to mimic the cuckoo clock,he does the full collection of cockatiel whistles, but your clip is superb!
