Don't Know Why by Norah Jones

I waited 'til I saw the sun
I don't know why I didn't come
I left you by the house of fun
I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come

When I saw the break of day
I wished that I could fly away
Instead of kneeling in the sand
Catching teardrops in my hand

My heart is drenched in wine
But you'll be on my mind
Forever

Out across the endless sea
I would die in ecstasy
But I'll be a bag of bones
Driving down the road along

My heart is drenched in wine
But you'll be on my mind
Forever

Something has to make you run
I don't know why I didn't come
I feel as empty as a drum
I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come

  • Very well done ! And not such an easy song to sing AND play at the same time, I'm sure ! Super !!! 5 ***** Rene.

  • Thanks again Rene. This was one of the very first songs I learned on the guitar, and it did take me forever to get it decent.

  • Really great!! You have a lovely voice!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you - that's very kind of you.

  • Wow this is great! I have a video singing this song too, but I wish I knew how to play the guitar. It must be so hard to play and sing at the same time! That takes talent!

  • Thank you MaiaAnastasiaa. Yes it's a little difficult to both play & sing, but on the other hand, it's great to be able to provide your own accompaniment. I listened to your version - you have a lovely voice. Keep singing!

  • Thanks again. Hey, with a name like ibm, you should be very good at multi-tasking. Anyway, you are doing great - it's a very difficult thing, learning to play an instrument, and then learning to sing at the same time - multiplies the complexity. But keep practicing, and you'll get there!! (this is what I keep telling myself, too)

  • Well either way I am impressed with your skill in singing and playing at the same time. I found that so difficult. Almost like you need to multi-task. Completely agree with it being a great hobby!

I am going to remain optimistic that you are not late in your life. ;-)

  • Thank you, IBM, no, I don't take singing lessons now - I had never sung throughout my life, then all of a sudden decided late in life to join a choir. Was not happy with my voice, so took some lessons about 4 years ago. The lessons did help me, though I still have lots of problems to work out. Then a couple of years ago decided to pick up the guitar. It's a great hobby, I'm sure you'll agree!

  • Well Done. Are you still taking singing lessons?
