Today, the Oversight Committee held a hearing titled, The Financial Crisis and the Role of Federal Regulators." The hearing examined the roles and responsibilities of federal regulators in the current financial crisis.

Testifying were:
Alan Greenspan, former Chairman, Federal Reserve
John Snow, former Secretary of the Treasury
Christopher Cox, Chairman, Securities and Exchange Commission

Crap!!! If the Fed manipulates interest rates, expands the money supply, distorting prices and supply/demand fundamentals, how are businesses to know what's going on?

Plus, excessive Govt taxation or inflation weakens domestic savings, Govt borrowing domestically pushes up interest rates, and borrowing abroad weakens exports.

f an experienced expert like Greenspan thinks that he needs to reconsider his economic idealogy,that he has believed in for over 40 yrs,I think it shows an example of why we probably need to reconsider a LOT of our ideas of how this country is run. And those who have made profits off of this disaster should be brought to trial and punished severely.

Why call this the Oversight Committee? Seems all they know how to do is let a crisis run unchecked then find someone to blame for it. We should rename it to the Hindsight Committee. Did Waxman see these signs?

The US should drill offshore. Absurd for such a large consumer of energy to not access their own resources first. If offshore drilling is bad for the US, importing oil from countries that drill offshore is bad too. Chinese polution produced to make goods for the US is US polution too.
