Tips for surviving the Kentucky Derby and the Kentucky Oaks horse races. It's the 136th Run for the Roses!

My pick: Ice Box.

Fashion discussion on such items as hats, dresses, and tips regarding your shoes. Advice about the Derby Infield Port-o-Pottie Roof Top Races. Pari-mutuel betting advice, discussions about the long bathroom lines and the bathroom attendants, the unsung heroes at Churchill Downs. An honorable mention of Matt Carothers and his life-time absence from the Twin Spires. Has Chris Kotulak been there? This Railbird would like to know.

One thing that was not mentioned in our single take ['Shaw Michael Buckley!!], please leave unnecessary credit cards at home. Keep your purses close and men, keep your wallets in your front pockets. Our credit cards didn't leave our person, but they were both in Ed's wallet in his back pocket. The card information was electronically lifted while we were at the Derby and the thieves then attempted to go for a wild ride on us [both E ticket rides were cut short by our banking institutions, and thank you for that Wells Fargo].

No race & no hat parade this year at Churchill Downs, the Twin Spires, just some useful tips for first time attendees.

Enjoy! The best enjoyment we get in life can often times come from the anticipation.

Here's the field, the post positions, the morning line odds, and the jockeys:

  • You look so professional with your nifty desk. And I bet that hat makes you feel SUPER great when you wear it.

Maybe one day I can go to a derby & use all your tips. =)

I am not sure about going now that you say there's a big line for the restrooms since I know I would be going at least ten times a hour!?!:(
