The design of the sonata might have imitated insect's face. For instance, cicada's face.

The Toyota Camry was the top selling non-truck vehicle of 2010. It was and continues to be one of the best selling vehicles around with only the Honda Accord coming close. The Hyunda Sonata was 2010's 11th best selling vehicle and Hyundai is noted for continuing to increase in popularity.
So again, the 'Camry in the crosshairs' title is referring more to sales than anything else.

Sanata is not comparable with Camry. Camry has the better ergonomics.
