Festival de la Gente™ is a community-based Event in a Historic Venue featuring Live Entertainment and traditional Hispanic Arts and Crafts in a carnivale-like atmosphere for families with children. A community's identity is tied to its history, and flourishes through its children. Through cultural displays, community-based involvement by schools and organizations and the support of the City and the County of Los Angeles, this Event shall garner ongoing media support and rising attendance. The festival will take place on Saturday, October 28th, 2006 from 11:00 am to 11:30 pm on the Historic 6th Street Bridge, the symbolic link between downtown Los Angeles and Boyle Heights; between West Los Angeles and East Los Angeles, the heart of the city's Latino community. The event will feature live music, art exhibits, teatro performance, storytelling, arts and crafts demonstrations and traditional Latin American cuisine. Special areas of the event will be dedicated to health, education and community empowerment and will provide interactive activity for children and their families.
