Penn & Teller give us their take on gun laws and stereotypes. They have some really good points.

  • @HittorfProductions In Germany there are almost no problems with corrupt, violent or racist cops. And actually for all that I can see the streets are not filled with cops. The only cop I see from time to time in my city (120.000 people) is that old dude next to the primary school who makes sure that the kids don't get hit by a car. He sometimes pisses me off when he tells me to turn on the lights on my bike but he's kind of a friendly old dude and so I can't stay mad long...

  • @HittorfProductions yeah it can be a good thing or a bad thing it is an opinion based on cultural beliefs in america we would rather not have cops everywhere. germany for example has one and a half cops for every square mile of the country. wether or not it will ever be relevant it is our belief that you should never allow the armed government agent population get too high, or you could risk absolute corruption and lose the ability to stop or prevent tyranny

  • @ljjvl And I don't say that these conditions don't exist in Europe. But there not as many. And btw most of the costs that are created by these welfare-systems are saved on other expenditures like the defense budget with eats up a gigantic amount of US tax money every year...

  • @ljjvl Actually you just lead me to a hole new idea. Most European states are so called welfare-states and spend a lot of taxes supporting the poor, ill or otherwise socially disadvantaged people. In some areas in the US you have straight up 3rd world conditions like in the "slums" of Baltimore. These people are totally neglected by society. Maybe I've been watching too much "the wire" lately but were there are 3rd world conditions there is a higher murder rate...

  • @ljjvl and regarding the pope. Even though he's an evil bastard (I do not care who I piss off on this topic), I have not heard of anyone being arrested for criticizing him, at least not in this century... If there there was, I'd be truly outraged but this is off topic again...

  • @ljjvl When we start talking about continents there are many different views... CGPGray made a video showing a very interesting overview on the topic, but we're really getting off topic here ;) All I wanted to say is that the difference in living standards (education level, people living below poverty line etc.) between eastern and western europe is similar to that between northern and southern America. Of course ther are acceptions (I'm really trying not to piss anyone off here) :)

  • @ljjvl yes but isn't that kind of a good thing? I mean when cops do their job properly without committing crimes them selves or being corrupt. Then it just means that there are more people here to prevent crimes. Actually, this might be one of the reasons for a lower murder rate. although that can't be all there is to it...

  • @HittorfProductions one third as many cops in one 40th the space equals a super dense police population

  • @HittorfProductions 20% of all middle class income in germany being taken for health care. and a police presence on every inch of every street

  • @HittorfProductions north and south america are different continents (regardless of what Europeans think) it would be more like averaging europe and africa. you said europe not the countries that use the euro or western europe. and i can find examples to prove my point too like people being arrested for speaking out against the pope or people having to wait months and get it approved to notarize anything in germany.
