Sleepy Lynx Cub

After pawing at my camera bag in an upside-down attack, a Siberian lynx cub (Lynx lynx) at Jungle Cat World decides to forego the excitement for a spontaneous afternoon nap. Whether it was the depletion of energy while playing with his brother or a food-coma brought on by a bowl full of formula, the little lynx Toskay was powerless to resist a little siesta.

Perhaps I'm seeing things, but I would like to think that this little guy resembles the Maneki Neko or lucky cat seen in so many Japanese restaurants. A lucky lynx for us perhaps and a lovely little nap for him.

Disclaimer: Seeing these beautiful animals in person is amazing, but be advised that though these animals are cute, they grow up. Some people make the mistake of thinking these cats are pets, but don't know they require a large, diverse habitat and thousands of dollars a year to take care of. If you want to have an encounter with an animal like this, become a volunteer at a reputable zoo or animal sanctuary...they usually need help.
