Frankly, this is annoying as hell when people put up 10 copies of a video, 9 of which are duplicates that were stolen from the original uploader. Makes it hard as hell to track down good, legit, unique and original footage when doing research.

The TV stations paid for the footage they used from amateur videographers. That's how they get footage of random events nobody was set up to cover.
