I got to witness something really special. About a dozen tea party activists had staked out Sen. Al Franken's booth, and confronted him loudly when he arrived. But within minutes, he'd turned an unruly crowd into a productive conversation on health care. The discussion went from insurance reform, to the public option, to veterans benefits, to cap and trade. He made a few laugh and even told a touching story that moved a few to tears. A whole lot of common ground was found.

Franken is one of the few honest people in politics. It's such pleasing and ironic justice that he reclaimed the seat vacated by Paul Wellstone, a great American whom he defended from rightwingbullshit on many occasions.

Franken has not voted the way I'd vote on every bill, but he uses his intellect and his moral integrity to decide his vote. We need more men like him in office.

Finally someone talking some sense into these people. I can't believe they actually listened to him though, Not sure how much went in but at least they had the common courtesy to listen to him and not talk over him like most politicians do to each other these days (or any political debate for that matter).
