The decision by police to break up the civil society demonstration in the streets of Nairobi brought to the fore Kenyas gradual return the country to the dark days when divergent views were suppressed. In the early 1990s police used public security as an excuse to break up protests. But according to the 1997 IPPG agreement, a police license is no longer required for one to hold a demonstration. NTVs Richard Chacha takes a closer look at how police are breaking the deal with impunity.
this is absurd. these police and soldiers forget who they are suppossed to work for! it's the mwananchi not the greedy politician, but in Africa i geuss pesa inaongea and all else walks. only Africa can save itself.

@MrMujama I met Njoya not too long ago and tried to remind him of our evening discussions in Ufungamano, and he wasn't too comfortable.
Kivutha Kibwana almost had me arrested by his bodyguards when I met him at a chemist in Westlands and asked him why he had so changed! Nakwambia watu ni wa ajabu sana

Interestingly the likes of Kiraitu Murungi and Kabado wa kabado among other parliamentarians were part of us.Looking at them now makes me think/believe that we were being fooled. We will continue fighting until we liberate Kenya.

@MrMujama pole ndugu. I was an active rioter in the 90s in UoN, especially against Karura grasbbing and saba sabas. I was hit by a rubber billet twice and was once hidden by a catholic priest in St Paul's chapel when the cops came for me. Pole I really know that it was brutal and painful

Where are the fucking 37 Million Kenyans??? Why are they not on the streets protesting?? Are they waiting for someone else to protest for them? If AND ONLY IF, 100,000 citizens flooded Nairobi streets and blocked all the roads, and do not cause violence - then indeed Kibaki would have acted. But here we have 20 people out of a population of 37 million!! What a shame!!
