On the moment of her launch 40 years ago to the minute, just a short distance upriver, QE2 blasts her mighty whistle for 40 seconds in a celebration salute

  • @Zebonka don't you mean british. it would either be glasgow, liverpool or southampton.

  • @Zebonka By that you mean a Scottish port (preferably the port she was built in Clydebank)...

  • she should be in clydebank, southampton or liverpool.

  • Oh sooooooooooooo good!

  • I'm sad she went to Dubai. I sailed on her twice. It was Americans and Europeans that loved her all these years. :( She should be here or in Europe. Not Dubai.

  • such a wonderful ship the qe2

  • I think its great that she's going to Dubai. I'm sure she will be well looked after and preserve well there. I think it a great shame that there are literaly hundreds of cruise ships being built now and no UK yards having any share of the action. Actually I wouldn't call it a shame I would call it a scandal and a disaster. Thankyou Dubai for preserving something we are not able to do.

  • QE2's horns were never on the Queen Mary. One horn from RMS Queen Mary was installed on the new QM2 along w/an exact copy when that ship was built. QE2 horns sound far better than those on Queen Mary 2.

  • The QE2 horns are actually the original horns from the Queen Mary. Hopefully they will be installed on another Cunarder.

  • i was there that day it was an honour to be there to mark the 40th anniversary to the exact time she was launched on the Clyde. originally the commentator thought she was gonna ring her horn 40 times he didn't know she was gonna ring it for 40 seconds haha was quite funny, i guess ya had to be there.

  • I feel Carnivale doesnt feel the same way as we do. To them she is just another aging vessel to be rid of.

  • amazing...just amazing

  • That is the clyde in Scotland were the Qe2 was made.

  • Wow, that must've been a very specile moment. I would've cried! Thanks for sharing this with us. :)

  • i was in newcastle

  • I saw the QE2 pass the East Yorkhsire coast on this special voyage.

  • i love the Qe2's horn aye

  • Extremely moving!!
