Activist Coalition Tells Israel Ballet: Dont Tiptoe Around Apartheid!

Worcester, MA, February 20, 2010 The Israel Ballets recent performance of Don Quixote was protested by a coalition of activists who sought to highlight the troupes role in the Israeli governments attempt to whitewash its record of war crimes, violations of international law, and other atrocities through promotion of its countrys artistic and cultural workers.

Approximately 34 students, workers, activists, and people of faith gathered in front of the Hanover Theatre, holding signs ranging from the playful to the direct. Representatives from the Worcester area Catholic Workers displayed an image of Don Quixote with the slogan, Dream A Possible Dream. Students from Clark University asked Where Are the Arabs in Your Arabesques? And Boston area activists held a banner proclaiming Tutus Cant Cover Israels War Crimes.

I as a Palestinian refugee, salute every human being that take the time to protest any and all Israeli actions and functions every where, Israel must realize that it's slaughter of innocent Palestinian must be stopped and noted, Israel must be held accountable and shouldn't enjoy business as usual any more, thank you.

Did the theatre manager allow her to hand out pamphlets without monitoring what she was providing the audience with? I would have had the police remove immediately! I am glad to see not many watched this video because obviously no one really cares about this supposed heroic gesture.

Holly Jones is evil if you look deep in her eyes. I used to live in Burlington, VT. I would love to have a debate with her in order to find out from where she derives her information. Apartheid State? Ridiculous!

Is there any proof that the ballet is a part of a propaganda effort? If so please provide an IMPARTIAL source. If you want to protest violence that is your right but shouldn't it be in a more appropriate forum? when has ballet ever contibuted to war? The idea to just blanket protest anything Israeli makes you look foolish. Instead of protesting the ballet why not protest when the US Congress awards defense contracts?
