Walter Murch talks openly about Final Cut Pro X; the reaction of the editing community; and his thoughts on what he has seen of the latest incarnation of Final Cut Pro. Walter is highly regarded as someone who breaks boundaries and explores different approaches to filmmaking and the technology behind the process. His thoughts regarding the direction Apple has chosen to go are definitely worth hearing.

Also, I'm an Avid user. Have never even used FCP. One reason was always feeling Apple was suspect anyway. And I feel for my friends who use FCP. Sure, they're okay for now. They can get their work done with 7. But how long will that last? And what about credibility? Will they ever believe hype like that coming from Apple again?

What he's saying is interesting in regard to the fact that there's this push for cloud computing...basically having all of our "work" on servers that we don't control...imagine the dependency then. Also, he's really biasing this in a positive direction for Apple...like they were thinking about the future of the industry. Please, tell me how making X incompatible with old projects (from FCP...and LOL not iMovie) does that. I can open iMovie projects, and so that's like showing me the future?

levels better on this one...but could be tweaked. And just saying, because I notice that the CC isn't really a priority (which is understandable - you're in the middle of other stuff), but sound affects those of us using earphones, so I would always make that a priority.
