Here in Portland we like to do things a little different. Here we also have backyard chicken tours. Now in its sixth year, Growing Gardens hosts Tour de Coops. This event gives people an opportunity to see whats involved in raising backyard chickens, get ideas for different types of coops to build or buy, and ask questions from those that know.

I wish that upon no one. I would like to share that raising chickens in your backyard is very popular here in the Portland area. A friend was looking for a home for her backyard coop, for she had to move. Turns out the new residents really wanted the coop!

As far as I know they stay in the chicken run of the coop. It's about 8' x 4'. He and his wife do really like their chickens, which makes me think there is a good chance they give them another area to roam...but I really don't know, for he didn't mention it to me at the time.

At 1:24 you say the one white egg is from a Buff Orpington when they lay light brown eggs which means it is not from a Buff Orpington.

chickens are wonderful. And chicken tractors are helpful if you have a large area to raise your flock. That way you will not have to clean the coop as much. You just roll it to a new spot. Thanks for sharing.
