From Animal Showboat to Animal Lifeboat Part 2 of 3

Part 2 - Narrated by James Earl Jones, this breathtaking documentary will open eyes about the history of zoos as well as raise questions as to what animals should be kept in captivity. The Detroit Zoo is different in that it rescued Ivan the Silverback Gorilla from solitary confinement in a Seattle mall, Katie, a lion rescued from a crack house, Bearla one of several Polar Bears confiscated by the USFWS from a Puerto Rico Circus. I remember going to see Ivan, he had just been moved from a caboose to a cement enclosure inside the store with an opening for sunlight 30 ft up. He sat looking out the window at the people very depressed. I cheered when I heard he was leaving, he lived so many yrs. in horrible conditions. Maybe the world is starting to wake up. Rodeo, circus, all of it, for money, what is money? We will be judged by them. God help us all!

a study was done several years ago when a wildlife preserve found rhinos trampled to death. they found that adolescent bull elephants were attacking the rhinos. when they tried to figure out why, it was discovered that there were no adult bull elephants in the preserve. The 'teenagers' were acting out violently because they had no 'father' to guide them. don't tell me these are just 'dumb animals'!!!
