  • If you buy the DVD of the movie there's extras showing who ended up buying the car and even a segment where the original cast are reunited with the car decades later and take the car out for a drive.

  • @Gnillob802 yeah i got the dvd, the car wasn't bought, the people who made the movie let Pierre Picton have it because he let them use his clown car in the movie, his act as a clown was a car that fell to pieces. So that car was used in baron Bombursts castle. So letting them use his car resulted in him getting the actual driving car too. Which is this one along with Pierre Picton, who is a very nice chap too :).

  • there is only one licensed Chitty, was made for a few parts of the movie and still runs

  • yup and this is the one, this is the one that did the driving scenes. then there was a model version for the flying scene above the castle. AND anoter version that was built ontop of a boat for the water scene : 3.

  • I wonder how it still looks that new

  • its hand cleaned, polished and well looked after ; )

  • @Gnillob802 Cool info about the clown car, didn't know that, the effect worked really well. Glad they gave Chitty to someone who maintains her and shows her to the public. Often film cars are sold & the owners leave them to rust under a canvas in their back yard or at best on display in some obscure museum but not in running order. To me Chitty is the best looking custom film car ever, especially knowing where some of the parts were meant to come from in the movie.

  • i have seen this car quite a few times i am a chitty expert and there was 5 chitys made in total one for the road sequences witch is the one in the vid the one in cars of the stars is the flying one which was used on blue screen and the stage show has a film car for promoting the show a wildlife park in Folkstone has another one and the one with the propellers is in the usa

  • anyone in the barnsley area, chitty will be at millhouse green in penistone on the 20th of sept.
