Hundreds gathered in Victoria Park on Friday, November 25th for the Annual Kick-Off to Christmas Magic In Cobourg.
For the past 16 years Cobourg, Ontario has been setting the stage for a spectacular display of Christmas lights in Victoria Park on Lake Ontario. Christmas Magic in Cobourg continues to amaze and delight visitors with its season splendour -- a dazzling display stretching from the shores of Lake Ontario to the entrance of Victoria Park -- an expanse of two city blocks!
This year the park is sporting a new look with a new design that will be sure to enchant children of all ages. Our snowdome, acts as centre stage and will be transformed into a new, spectacular display.
The evening of festivities started at historic Victoria Hall on King Street. Those in attendance were encouraged to bring along a non-perishable food item for the Fare Share food bank in exchange for a candle.
The candlelit walk moved along King Street to the Victoria Park Snowdome. Following the lighting up of the park, those in attendance enjoyed a hot chocolate and got the chance to meet Santa!
Aaron MacDonald's girlfriend Christina got quite a shock at the lighting ceremony when he proposed to her in front of the crowd. She said yes.
This magnificent display can be enjoyed each evening free to the public from November 25th , 2011 until January 2nd , 2012 6pm -- 10pm.
