I've been running some heavier material through my machine. Today I ran through some soil, compost, stones, bark, wood, a couple of beer cans, and a pair of womens draws. (?) I have another short video which is a continuation of this one (my asthma, the heat, humidity, and being overweight put a damper on my doing too much today) so as soon as I get some more time I'll upload it.

  • Very Nice...What would you estimate the cost of building this unit?

  • @wleas I'd like to say cheap, but that would be an out and out lie. The DC motor and controller (new controller, used motor) came in at $430. All of the steel, along with the drive train parts, wheels and other hardware (except for the bed-frame casters) were bought new. Since I don't save receipts, my estimate will be "roughly" $850. Most of the parts can be sourced a lot cheaper with used material. Continued....

  • Very nice tumbler but i think you could improve it a little by adding some agitating fingers to the support strips the run the length of the tumbler. This would break up any clumps and aerate the compost as you sift it. All in all very well designed and thought out.
