I am proud to say that I was one of the first Americans to go to Senegal to serve in the US Peace Corps Volunteer program, arriving in Dakar, February, 1963. Leopold Sedar Senghor was the poet/President...Some of us helped train the Senegalese National Team for the 1963 African Games, and later, for the 1964 Olympic Games. I also helped develop and institute a community development project on the Ile de Goree, Senegal. Fond memories. We celebrate the 50th PC Anniversary with him on Sept. 21st

I do not understand Senegalese, nonetheless, the musicality, the pulsating fast-pace beats inter-woven with the nuances of the talking drums enveloped me. Each of his music kept me yawning for more and glued me on to listen to as many of these masterpieces as I can. As an African, we are all one. thank you Youssou for creating these beautiful music. God Bless
