Interview with director Gus Van Sant at San Francisco's Castro Theatre during the Frameline Film Festival in 1993, where a new 35 mm print of his feature Mala Noche was screened. It was the same venue and festival where the original 16 mm print of the film originally screened in 1985, and he said the Castro Theatre crowds are always the most enthusiastic audiences for the film. At the time of this interview, he was working on his adaptation of Tom Robbins' "Even Cowgirls Get The Blues."
