I remember all of this,... not because I went to Poway H.S. but because as a member of A Smaller school marching band (Calabasas, HS) we ALWAYS wished to be in one of the big bands, Poway, Arcadia, Magnolia, Mt. Carmel & on & on... Poway & Arcadia were head & shoulders above all of the others IMO You guys were EPIC!!
I was in the Emerald Brigade from 80-82. I would have been in until I graduated in 84. My dad was in the Navy and we moved to Florida in the summer of 82. I loved this half-time show it was so cool! I was in the color guard, and was a rifle in this performance.
I was in the 1980 Brigade, tuba section. It rocked. My favorite memory was playing a show at Mt. Carmel HS. We started with our back towards the stands towards the stands, did a 180 and blasted. Everyone in the stands put their hands up to their ears when the wall of music hit them. It was awesome. Poway was always great for putting 100+ musicians on the field and filling it.
I remember this whole show & I wasn't even in it. I was in 8th grade this year.
Anybody got 87? Another thing I've love to see is the jam session at end of the CMA concert, summer of 86. I've always wondered if it came even close to the way I remember it.
Wow, so weird to find this! I was in the snare line. Blubbering like a baby for some reason...heh

I remember this show from watching it my freshman year. I attended Los Altos High School. The 80's had some powerful bands.

This brings back some memories. 1982 was my senior year and the last one that Mr. Best was band director. This was really a cool halftime show!
