  • Piggy dies :(

  • @ramennoodleking but the parallel isn't that strong.

Jesus' death had some effect and later was followed by resurrection.

Simon's death did nothing. He didn't come back in any way shape or form, and neither did his realizations/ideas.

I think he was more of a symbol for spirituality/religion itself rather then a Jesus of sorts.

  • @TrickyStunz It's the theme from Requim For a Dream by Clint Mansell

  • What is the first song? It is perfect for an assesment piece.

  • @ramennoodleking my teacher, mr. rizzuto said the same exact thing! that's why I was wondering. this book is fantastic, and you must be really smart! thanks so much!

  • @Lexiiedollx3 Nope, I was a product of Wamsley in high school and a plethora of great college professors. Also, when I did my teaching internship I focused on this book, so I did a ton of research in addition to drawing my own conclusions based off my reading ;)

  • @Raegh Do you not realize that alot of literature was written with Biblical references, symbolism, and metaphor? Just because something can (and does, btw) mirror something Biblical doesn't mean anyone is pushing Christianity on anyone. Simon does fit into the "Jesus" role, though there are multiple interpretations for everything. It's the same way authors make allusions to Greek mythology; it's for the sake of literature. Dunno how else to explain it to you.

  • @ramennoodleking Yeah. Just that the 'Jesus' part is one thing you should just shove off about.

  • All I can say is read the book.

The film will upset you the book will terrify you.

  • @ramennoodleking you were a student of rizzuto's class, weren't you?

  • I saw this film on TV in the early 80's, when I was a young girl, and it left a huge impression on me. I think it is a masterpiece on violence and the human nature. Today I had the immense pleasure of meeting Peter Brook in person in Milan. I told him how much I loved this film and he was pleasantly surprised. A very nice man indeed.
