More than two hundred twenty thousand people have seen the heartbreaking story of Sam and Esther, seriously neglected children being raised in Uganda by their 8 year old sister, Jane. Today, thanks to the loving work of Village2Village Project, generous sponsors, and the film made by the San Damiano Foundation, Sam, Esther and Jane live a life that is vastly changed. Here, Jane spontaneously sang thanks to God for her new life and I (Laurie) asked her to sing it again for the camera. He surely has changed her life! At the end, she greets Gerry, her sponsor... the filmmaker who was with us when we initially discovered the children. Love does make a difference!

  • This is the first comment I've ever put up on a Youtube because I've always thought they were dumb and no one cares what you have to say anyway. I love that little girl. Its very hard to connect with humans or care for strangers, but she is an incredible human being. Your religion is irrelevant-- you have done something beautiful for someone else and given life where only death and ignorance lived. You actually had me crying; please tell me how all three of them are doing.

  • @judaswept Thank you! I've just arrived back from Uganda this week and Jane is doing well. I stay with her and with Sam and Esther when I visit. Jane is a remarkably resilient young girl. She is 12 now and is fluent in English, curious, funny and she loves reading, football and dancing. Sam and Esther are cared for by two sweet young women, and a physical therapist comes in twice a week. Jane does well in school. She will dance in a Christmas Cantata with her church and has good friends.

  • hello jane when i saw ur video i was cry and sobbing because i saw ur liitle brother and your little sister on the mud swam over there and You make a way to clean ur younger brother and sister.Jane in your age you are not going to take over that kind of responsibility >you must enjoy your being childhood.

I will pray for you/ I love u baby girl jane..i really cry

  • @richard25644 Thank you for your concern...Jane has had a different life these past few years. She goes to school and is at the top of her class..she takes dance class and plays games and tells stories! All of this because some caring people have stepped in to help us help her and nearly 100 kids like her. When I go to Kampala I stay with her and her siblings. May God use your tears to accomplish great things!

  • Such a cute and brave little girl,May Allah bless her,.......she is my inspiration.

Lots and lots of love and prayers from me and my country(Pakistan),specially for this little girl and for all those who r in a very difficult situation, i'll meet as many people as possible to send their prayers to this child and to the foundation that's helping such kids and families.

Thanks for helping her,and likewise families. :)

  • @ammar906 Thank you so much for your caring words! She is inspiring...and now she has as normal a childhood as possible. Thanks for sharing her story with your friends. I hope you find us at village2villageproject (dot) org and on face book! :) Many blessings to you.

  • love this! peace and love to all

  • Laurie, you are the Light and Hope for these children!! Sweet little Jane, you have shown the world the heart of our Creator, in all you did for your brother and sister!! I don't know how anyone could watch the "Sam and Esther" video, and not cry their eyes out!! We take so many things for granted, here in the U.S. We are fortunate, that those who are hungry can be fed, if someone/somewhere is aware of their suffering. May God continue His work in Africa!

  • a true miracle = ' )
