This is a Dylan song (big deal for me--first time posting one of his). I sing it more like the way Joan Baez does but the only lyric I change is the one about the trumpet--I think.

Farewell Angelina, the bells of the crown
Are being stolen by bandits, I must follow the sound
The triangle tingles, the music plays slow
But farewell Angelina, the night is on fire, and I must go

There is no use in talking and there's no need for blame
There is nothing to prove, everything still is the same
The table stands empty by the edge of the stream
But farewell Angelina, the sky's changing colors, and I must leave

The jacks and the queens they have forsake the courtyard
Fifty-two gypsies now file past the guard
In the space where the deuce and the ace once ran wild
Farewell Angelina, the sky is folding, I'll see you after a while

See the cross-eyed pirate sit perched in the sun
Shooting tin cans with a sawed-off shotgun
And the corporals and the neighbors clap and cheer with each blast
But farewell Angelina, the sky is trembling, and I must leave fast

King Kong little elves in the rooftops they dance
Valentino-type tangos while the hero's clean hands
Shut the eyes of the dead not to embarass anyone
Farewell Angelina, the sky is flooding over, and I must be gone

The camoflaged parrot, he flutters from fear
When something he doesn't know about suddenly appears
What can not be imitated perfect must die
Farewell Angelina, the sky's flooding over, and I must go where it is dry

Machine guns are roaring, puppets heave rocks
At misunderstood visions and at the faces of clocks
Call me any name you like, I will never deny it
But farewell Angelina, the sky is erupting, and I must go where it is quiet

  • I heard your voice for the first time about a week ago, and thought Wow, she sounds like Eva Cassidy. I wonder if she can sing? You sure can. You almost seem to have Eva's shyness, too, putting your voice in the background of the guitar.

This is such a beautiful song. One of my favorites. Thanks for making this video.

  • wow what a lovely voice..i love this tune so much along with silver dagger

  • An excellent Cover with the Joan Baez style...

  • CitizenWorm thanks for posting the lyrics. i'd forgotten many lines and found myself reading along while you sang. you're covering joan who added zest to bob's arrangement and her melody soon became the standard. it was lovely but in exchange the lyrics juxtaposed easygoing and lost their wonder and their edge. the romantic and mysterious symbolism was sacrificed in leau of a sweet sound and a folk structured cadence. still i like both styles and your cover is real nice. keep up the good work :)

  • good dylan song and good rendering from the performer-

  • Once again, lovely, lovely cover. You have such a natural voice. Have you covered, "It's All Over Now Baby, Blue?

Not many young people your age into folk music.. So glad to hear that there are people in their early 30's that enjoy & sing songs from the great folk singers from the 60's. Have you listened to the late folk singer, Sandy Denny? There is a hugh amount of her songs here on Youtube. Sadly she passed away years ago from a fall down a flight of stairs at a friend's home in UK..

  • Beautiful! Very nice.

  • Beautifully sung. Great job.

  • powerful job sweet voice beautiful girl - what more could you ask for ???

  • Beautiful x

  • ps. i just forwarded this video to a musician friend of mine and he thinks u r great too ~~ :p

i wish i could sing like you -- i love to sing but i have to try really hard -- i'm not a natural singer like you!

  • you have the nicest voice of any *undiscovered* singers i've come across on youtube so far - including those with tons of subscribers.

i think u should make a musician's account and really showcase your songs -- just for your sweet voice u deserve to be mega-subscribed... :o)
