We are toying with the idea of allowing a "true" running dog walk for Zelda. At 7 months old, we are limited to how much we can do with this, but teaching her a proper stride and allowing her to gain confidence and speed on the board are to our advantage. We'll see how this progresses over the next few months and we'll see if a running contact is in our best interest :)

  • Very nice, thorough video. It will be interesting to see if you decide to go with this contact behavior. With her long stride and springiness, I'm wondering if it will hold up very well.

I can't wait to see Zelda running sequences. It looks like she's going to be a fabulous agility dog, and will make everyone want an IG like her!

  • Thanks - I am not sold on the running contact. Especially with a "bouncy" dog. But - we know she will probably have to run in the 16" class against the big shelties, small BC's and crazy cattle dogs... every second counts - so I'll try it for now, but if it is too inconsistant, we'll go to a modified stop (she shapes well enough, I'm sure she can make the transistion). Wish us luck!

  • Snap! This videos's great. We have a similar one on dog walking -- but it's focused more on the benefits of walking your dog. Check it out if you have a minute.

  • Deb, what a great little video! I can't wait to go try this with Chili & Matt too! The out takes were hysterical! Zelda will be a force to be reckoned with (like her namesake!)

  • Thanks for the instruction. Learning about the striding for a running contact is really helpful.

    Thanks!

  • LOL I loved the out takes. I think it looks really good, but yes, does seem scary for a dog her size and structure. She's a lot bouncier than Divot. But I bet she can do it, she's a super pup.

She's so adorable. Good job, Zelda!
