This video features Tomy Mathews who represents the Fairtrade Alliance of Kerala, or FTAK
FTAK is located in Kerala, a province in southern-western India. Its members are spread across the 6 hilly districts on the Western Ghats of Kerala. Kerala has rooted tradition of farmers' movements to support impoverished/indebted farmers.
FTAK was set up in January 2006 by members that had already been organised into farmers movements aimed at tackling the widespread problem of farmers' indebtedness. FTAK solely focuses on issues related to trade justice and views fair trade as an important tool in its efforts to regain the farmer his/her rightful place in the global economic regime.
FTAK has 2,500 cashew producing members, all of which are Fairtrade certified. Most FTAK members also produce spices for the fair trade market. All members of FTAK are smallholders.
In this video Tomy talks about what it means to the smallholder farmers to be a part of Liberation.

Awesome video! I just watched a BBC documentary about fairtrade in asia/indonesia, it is so sad how people are forced to live there.
