Israel's Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon addressed the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva on the sixtieth anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention. He strongly criticised the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) which is responsible for Palestinian refugees calling it "morally and politically unacceptable." He claimed that although Israel supports the principles governing the treatment of the refugees, the UNRWA had done damage to the peace process by not finding long-lasting measures to cope with the problem of displaced people.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ayalon also released a video for the occasion which explains how Jewish refugees were more disadvantaged. In the video he says, "So how did it all begin? In may 1948, the local Arab population was joined by seven Arab countries in a collective attempt to destroy the newly reestablished Jewish state. Encouraged by Arab leaders who promised they would return as victors - and later on as a result of their failed war efforts - an estimated 500 thousand Arabs fled to neighboring Arab territories.
"But is this the full picture? I'd like you to take a look at the refugees in these photos. Many people assume they are Arab refugees fleeing Israel, but in fact, they are innocent Jewish refugees forced out of Arab countries. This map tells the full story. There were far more Jewish refugees than Arab refugees. Over 850 thousand Jews from ancient Jewish communities predating Islam [...]"
Ayalon's approach is not surprising. Earlier in the year, he released similar videos called "The Truth About the West Bank" and "The Truth About the Peace Process." Although some may see his speech in Geneva as justifiable criticism, many will remember recent comments by Israeli Interior Minister Eli Yishai. When talking about the recent influx of African migrants into Israel, he promised to see "the last of the infiltrators returned to their countries."
@naanaxey Huh? Israel has 20% Arab population and are even in the government. What does your comment have to do with the ones shooting rockets and being terrorists? Are you saying, Israel isn't nice enough to terrorists? If Jews were doing that under Islamic rule, they would get away with it? You bigots arguements are nonsense. You cannot cover you are bigots and greedy to want to take the Jews only tiny land.

@tixmastr Of course. Nationalism, Communism, and others, have never killed anyone...lol. Ignore the facts, and just keep repeating your same old, self-proclaiming slogans.

@naanaxey No? The Arabs and others are not biased? Jews have one tiny country and the rest have multiple huge nations. Do you look at a map and just pretend, otherwise?
