The 7 Sacraments of the Catholic Church were instituted by Christ as a way of transmitting grace. Baptism - Matthew 3:13-17, Confirmation - Acts 19:1-7, Eucharist - Matthew 26:26-29, Confession - John 20:23, Anointing of the Sick - James 5:13-15, Holy Orders - 1 Peter 2:5, Matrimony - Matthew 5:31-32. Outside the Catholic/Orthodox Church there is only Baptism and Matrimony, a validly ordained priest is needed for God to work through for the other Sacraments.

  • About baptism Peter said in Acts 2:38 "Repent and be baptized...", how can a baby repent??

A baby isn't evil, a child know not between right and wrong, he knows that some things get him in trouble but hasnt developed a moral compass to guide him

A teenager knows why something is wrong and why something is right adn acts upon it. Refer to Gen 8-21

Thats why I don't understand the baptising of an infant, if he/she cant comprehend whats happening then its like an imposition rather than a choice

  • We are all born with original sin from our first parents Adam and Eve. So even though an infant has no personal sin they still have the stain of original sin that Baptism washes away.

  • Sacraments 1) Baptism, By Emersion. I got that(oh it does not remove sin, only Blood of Jesus does that) 2) COnfirmation Jesus Christ already confirmed me in his Body 3) Communion, I do that every meal. (you don't have to be a priest to do communion) 4) Confession, when I sin, I go to God directly, and he forgives me. (not nessary to go to any other, let alone possible) 5) Holy Orders, I have been ordained by God to be a Bishop, Missionary, evangelist, and I am even a Saint right now.)

  • I'll just adress confession because you said that it isn't even possible. Jesus instituted the sacrament of confession in John 20:23 when He told His disciples "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained." How were they to know wether to forgive or retain a sin unless someone confessed to them?

  • @knoketj I don't watch TV.

  • @knoketj I said the traditions, many of them about Mary, etc do contradict scripture.

  • @DerektheDuctTape Would it really make sense for Jesus, who was a observant Jew, to not make a visible, tangible Church here on Earth? For him to go from a structure with its laws, given by God, to a free flowing movement with not direction again does not make any sense. Matthew 5:17 " "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill."

  • @knoketj I think I was just adding a bit more about the Pope.

  • @DerektheDuctTape so the RCC didnt organize the new testament? The RCC didnt choose and put together the whole Bible? You have no clue my friend. I m done trying to communicate with someone who puts more energy into duct tape than the truth. BTW professing you are a Christian does not get you to our LORD. You have to live the life as well. Works as well as faith is what gets you there. Be carefull trusting your salvation on this "protest ant" ideology. study who Martin Luther was. blessings

  • @DerektheDuctTape Are you you clear minded my friend? It doesnt seem like like it. I wish you the best in your persuite of the truth. You are way off base, I dont get how you could twist such straight forward scripture into what you want. It seems you blindly answer my responses with no investigation of the facts at all. Again, if you say it, it is. Its just sad to know the truth hovers around you and swat it away like you do. Stop watching so much TV and surfing the internet and study the bible

  • @knoketj Guidence of the Holy Spirit. The Traditions, not refering to what is outside the Bible/ and or contradict the Bible many of the Catholic Traditions do contradict the Bible. They did not have the technology to have the scriptures in everyone's hands. What was written and not written was really one and the same.

  • Ask yourself a couple of questions my brother. #1 who decided the canon of sacred scripture that you base your entire Christian belief

system on? #2 in 2 thess 2;15 paul advises the thessalonians to " stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle." So what Traditions do you think he is referring to? We, as Christians need to do more than just blindly profess our loyalty, not knowing what we are involved in.

    blessings

  • @DerektheDuctTape, Actually, matt 16;17,18,19 Jesus gives the keys (the authority) to make desisions here on earth while he is not present. Please brother, read it. Doctrine of the Catholic church is a valid source of regulations for us. Do not deny yourself the authoritative structure she offers. Men are and always will be fallible and with that mistakes will be made in any humanly governed entity. You, my friend are way off base with your interpretation of holy scripture.

  • @knoketj are you that is the truth,or did your church say that. Jesus never stated to apart of anykind of organization, but to follow him. Trust him for Salvation. Jesus never said follow his church, but follow him. Look at it, church was never meant to be even an organization. Jesus said follow him. Nowhere in scripture does it say to follow anything else, in order to follow Jesus, or no where does it say you have to apart of any organization to follow Jesus.
