Using this plus crkline47's yoke poking advice, I was able to make awesome Poached eggs in a minute. So thank you for this, you helped me make dinner quickly tonight! :D

Everybody's pallets are different. I did a poached egg this morning and didn't notice any vinegar taste but I did use some Hollandaise sauce. One Chef suggested using seasoned rice wine vinegar (i.e. Nakano pesto). Each to his own---I just found the egg white will stay together and not separate using vinegar.

Waaaay overdone, but thanks.

Wow it really works! And I thought like all eggs in a microwave it would explode. Thank for the tip.
The membrane around the yoke will explode when heated. Poke yoke with toothpick 2-3 times to keep from blowing up egg. Also, Add a teaspoon of vinegar to help the egg whites to congeal more easily. Better cooking method is to heat water 30-40 sec until it boils. Then add egg and vinegar and heat 45 to 80 sec at medium power (50%). Let stand 2-3 minutes still covered with wrap. About as perfect poached egg as you can make.

I did try heating the water first and that worked well also. The vinegar would change the flavor too much for me. Thanks for the helpful comment.

lol I watched this one night, decided to do it the next morning.
1st egg, tried 1 minute. Put it in and walked away.
Heard a feint pop as I was in the other room. Suddenly rememberd "Oh no I forgot to put the cling wrap on!"
I was hesitant to open the microwave door, and for good reason.
I opened it slowly, and through total fault of my own, the microwave now had a completely new internal coating,
also know as "Exploded Egg". LOL
48 secs "WITH" clingwrap is what I learnt from this!

I've been cooking no-knead bread and enjoy experimenting with different amounts of yeast, cook times and ingredients. When I find what works best for me.....I'm happy!
I'm happy you learned what works for you!

You don't have to poke holes in the wrap?

@electrickithara
The wrap holds the heat in cooking the egg evenly.
