Music4Autobahns Interview: Juliana Theory

The Juliana Theory was always a band I had heard of but never heard. One of the lasts shows my band Grey Area played was at Princeton University with Error Type 11 and Juliana Theory. Being a fan of Buddyhead, I had heard a lot of shit talked about them. How some one stole their headphones on purpose and how band names shouldn’t consist of the word “theory”. You get the picture.

I didn’t know what to expect watching them set up. Were they an electronic band? What’s with the headphones? To top it off they all looked like the cast of “That 70’s Show”. Of course you should never judge a book by its cover. I definitely did not expect them to play as heavy as they did or balance it with the slow songs they played. They were able to dizzy up the crowd and let them down with a cast of the hand. As Juliana Theory bassist Chad Allen says “Fuck what you heard and come see us play.” A statement I agree with after seeing them perform.
