I wasn´t quite sure, whether I really want to post this video, but I decided to do it now. I ´m very grateful to the both great voices , I borrowed to express my feelings.

In loving memory of my mama.

Henry Purcell (1659-1695)

" My dearest, my fairest " from " Pausanius, the Betrayer of his Country", a tragedy, acted at the Theatre Royal by His Majesties servants / written by a person of quality Richard Norton (1666-1732) Z 585 (1695).

Philippe Jaroussky
Andreas Scholl

Ensemble "Artaserse".

Live on 11.12.2010 at TCE, Paris
Broadcast on 04.01.2011

My dearest, my fairest,
My dearest, my fairest,
I languish for you.
Thy kindness has won me,
Thy charm has undone me,
I ne'er, no, ne'er shall be free.
I faint with the pleasure I fain would repeat,
Ah why are love's raptures so short and so sweet,
Thus pressing and kissing, fresh joys we'll pursue
And ever be happy and ever be true.
But alas, should you change
Ah, tell me not so
No never my dearest
No never my fairest
No, no, my dearest (my fairest) no, no.

  • @OedipusTyrannus

...to you the same, my dear friend!

  • Jeffrey, this is a touching testimonial. I am a big fan of Andreas Scholl, much less so of Philippe Jaroussky - he's still lacking maturity. But he's a good looking, charming singer and he's certainly very good for his age.

So, I see your mother rather through Scholl's eyes whom I followed since I heard him a first time in a rather modest event in a Swiss concert. I knew from the first notes that this was a rising star.

Thank you for sharing your precious memories.

    Have a blessed Christmas!
