This is from an episode in the sixth season of DS9. The Dominion is preparing to take down minefield at Deep Space Nine to allow an unstoppable fleet of their ships to enter the Alpha Quadrant and wipe out the Federation. In response, Starfleet assembles a fleet of 600 starships to make a run on the station to recapture it. In their way; 1,200 Dominion ships.

The song is "Storming New Caprica" by Bear McCreary. It was originally used in the Battlestar Galactica episode "Exodus Part 2".

  • @trevinboy Did you even watch the show? Sisko was ordered by the admiralty to lead the fleet to DS9 as the Dominion were about to bring down the minefield and receive reinforcements from the Gamma Quadrant. If that had happened, the war would have been over the the Federation destroyed. This attack was the Federation's last hope for survival, Starfleet was willing to take the losses for the greater good. That's why the episode is titled "Sacrifice of Angels", after all.

  • We'll have to agree to disagree on that point. :-)

  • @williamskidfears

Rick Berman wasn't remotely involved in BSG, wtf r u talking about

  • @ExiledPiasa Then, we bring in the White Stars, and, well, I'd say the day would probably be done for the ST ships.

  • @nardigan As Quark would later observe, you take away their root beer and their holodecks, and Humans can be as nasty as any Klingon.

  • @80smusicfanNO1 It isn't a good series, and Bear McCreary, along with Rick Berman's stooge Ronald D. MacDonald, should both be shot at sunrise.

  • @TheGodBen Actually, it was Sisko's plan; Starfleet reluctantly agreed to it, and, when it was clear they were running out of time, Sisko convinced Admiral Ross to go with what ships they had. because, they had no choice.

The "Sacrifice," however, was Sisko's; because he'd forced the Prophets to intervene, they exacted a pennace, which ultimately led to Sisko's becoming a Prophet himself at the end of the series.

  • star trek ds9 - 8

  • "concidering the the most powerful st ship has less than 20cm of high density armor and that b5 novas have 10-12meters of high density armor i'd give the armor edge to st" was supposed to end in the edge going to the b5 ships... responed while in library and screeming kids had me distracted.

ea ships are dependant on very large bore plasma cannons which do kenetic and thermal damage, though at a shorter range than phasers and disruptors. but in sacrafice of angels the ships were point blank

  • well, concidering that in DS9 they seemed to not use sheilding. so the b5 and st ships would be on a similar footing, and concidering the the most powerful st ship has less than 20cm of high density armor and that b5 novas have 10-12meters of high density armor i'd give the armor edge to st. now st can run rings around b5 capitals, but that's why they have so many turrets, which is a weak point in its self. but it would still be interesting. just a thought.

  • Dude just upload the battle without the fucking music of the top.

Whats the point? It's not Battlestar Galatica.

  • @ExiledPiasa *raises eyebrow*

Seriously? Yes, B5 is a great series, but the tech level in the setting is much lower than in ST. The EA's ships didn't have energy shielding or use antimatter for power or as munitions (putting their power output several orders of magnitude below that of ST ships). Without shields, enemies could just beam torpedoes into their ships. The only ones in B5 who could *maybe* stand up to the Dominion would be the First Ones/Vorlons/Shadows/etc.
