Ich komme gerade aus Marokko zurück - dort laufen die Dinger heute noch als 240 D als Taxen mit mehreren hundertausend auf dem Tacho! Und die neueren Modelle haben die immer noch nicht dort - man wartet darauf, bis der gebrauchte W124 günstiger wird :-D

ok, so its a RHD plant, then my car wasn't built there. I haven't figured out where mine was built.

they did yes,the plant is still there and they now build all right hand drive C-Klasse for the world market. So all the C-Class cars in say Australia,some parts of japan and of course the United-Kingdom come from South-Africa.

Best car Mercedes ever made! We have a 1984 300D manual with over 500 000km that we bought new,that still runs like it did when it left the showroom. Mercedes made great cars until 1995 when the last W124's were made. Any Mercedes after that is poor quality. I also like the W124,but I have a very special place in my heart for the W123. The 300D that I mentioned is in South-Africa. The car was built at the South-African plant in East London. The car's colour is "Diamant Blau" with Tan leather.
