@PantsDastard Anyone who has owned an old game console can appreciate this. And why share music if its gonna make you upset when people know about it? Also, I wouldn't worry about the mainstream appeal of this genre. It hasn't and likely won't hit the modern day dubstep tier. There should rather be a satisfaction that people do like this, as you now share a commonality with them. The issue among hipsters is they all want be unique. Well they are, just like everyone else.

@bpempire86 Sometimes the appeal doesn't lie in the content itself. Sometimes— extremely often, actually— the context in which the content was first presented matters more than the actual content itself. People who become disinterested are just upset when they imagine that the original context is completely lost. More than anything, it's happy nostalgia about a personal, secret thing. When this feeling dissolves, people become upset and disassociate— a dramatic but natural reaction.

@xCookieDamagex The usual complaint with something going mainstream tends to be the following: The content will no longer appeal to the majority of newcomers. The fanbase will not like it for the same reason you do anymore. A deep, secret part of you gets brought into the open. Or you simply don't want to hear varied opinions, because you just want to enjoy it without over-analyzing it. A lot of personal comfort and companionship is lost as popularity rises. But it is exciting.

@icactus27 XD ????
Such a shame this is becoming uber-hipster-mainstream now..
Even though this genre of music goes back to the early 80's, remember all those fancy intro's with the cracks of your favorite game? ;)
