During the summer of 2010, environmental organizations around the world collected marine debris from the oceans and sent to home appliance maker Electrolux. From this plastic, unique concept vacuum cleaners -- Vacs from the Sea -- were molded. Each model is made from debris collected from a specific sea. The Vacs are now being put on display to raise awareness around the plastic issue.

  • Brilliant!! This just the kind of clever, resourceful, forward-thinking innovation we need from all of the corporate/industrial world! I know what my next vac is going to be! Excellent, Electrolux!

  • Shame they aren't sold commercially. I'm sure those who can afford one would be willing to pay extra. A charity auction benefiting a wildlife protection fund even.

  • NOW YOU ALL GIVE THOSE TRASH SLOB'S A GOOD SLAP !!!! THEY WILL LEARN DAM IT TEACH EM THAT'[S THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL LEARN NOW YOU SEE WELL KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

  • Thumb's up Electrolux!

  • Its is clever Cool Hunting by Electrolux, sucking up what is trending in the work of artists and activists like Judith and Richard Selby, Barbara de Vries, Fran Crowe, Chris Jordan, Pam Longobardi and many others and using it to market a green image. Unfortunately there is plenty plastic waste available, to recycle please! Still this story furthers ocean plastic pollution awareness, just don't give them too much credit for creative original thinking...

  • @TurboTarg I think there are vacs from Electrolux made from recycled plastics available. Problem is lack of recycled plastic.

    Google Electrolux Green Vac

  • i want one

  • Good Videos. Congratulations.

  • lol

  • As i'm living in Nuremberg/Germany, where Electrolux shut down a large factory for dishwashers, tumblers and washing machines to let them be manufactured cheaper elsewhere, thus sending thousands of workers into unemployment here, i will not buy anything from electrolux anymore. Period.
