Normally, only one motor is required in Tandem System that uses a torque-tube drive train. However, the Esky King's shaft in this custom Tandem was only meant to drive a small tail rotor.
To reduce the load on the torque-tube, 2 BL motors are used. The one-way bearing in each main gear cleverly allows full-synchronized movement of both rotor-heads even if there's any difference in speed between the motors.

  • Sure, you can see my other 2 videos, one is a 'barebone' tandem with a King2 canopy and the other is a completed tandem with CH46 body. :)

  • Thanks mate, I'm hoping it will turn out well. The tandem mixer and 2 Futaba heading-lock gyros are on the way. :)

  • Lol u put 2 helis into 1 thats cool ummm if they are the ones that can go upside-down u should try that. That would be sick!!!!!!!

  • WOW!

  • Dude I think that's fantastic! I hope the torque tube can deal with the stresses of the 2 large rotors. Hopefully the dual motors will make that a non-issue.

  • Very nice. I figured this was possible. Good job.

Are you using a torque tube or the belt drive to synchronize the blades?

  • This looks like a very intersting project. I'm looking forward to seeing more!
