Arranged Marriage To My Best Buddy; Ch. 7 {Jemi Love Story} {Part 2}

He followed me, but it seemed like he had chosen today to test how slow he could possibly walk.

"Joe, come on! We still have to pick up Nick and Taylor" I whined. At the mention of Nick, Joe stiffened noticeably. I rolled my eyes and waved him through the door.

Joe hopped into the driver's seat and I hopped into the passengers. "Where to first?" he asked starting the car.

"Nick's, he lives closer" I said thinking about it. I watched Joe's reaction, but I didn't see one. I sighed a little gratefully hoping that maybe he had given up on his little theory.

The car ride there was silent. We are about to get married and we can't even think of something to say, I thought. "So..."

"Yes" he replied taking a turn onto Nick's street.

He pulled into Nick's driveway and I leaned over him to honk the horn a few times. I saw Nick come running out of his house and I laughed a bit. He must have woken up a little late because his hair was a mess.

I unlocked the back door for him as he scrambled in. He leaned forward and kissed me on the cheek before buckling up.

"Ready?" I asked Joe turning to face him. He forcefully started the car and I noticed that his knuckles were almost white on the steering wheel.

I placed a hand reassuringly on his shoulder, but he shook me off. I sat there feeling rejected.

"How ya doing?" Nick asked me. I turned around to face him, who cares if Joe got jealous. Nick didn't like me that way.

"Great. How about you? It looks like you woke up late" I said laughing a bit.

"I woke up when you honked the horn" he said jokingly and I ruffled his hair.

"Aren't you excited for school?" I asked happily and Nick made a disgusted face.

I laughed harder now. "What kind of a face is that?"

I could hear Joe shift in the seat beside me and I shot him a glance. His eyes were locked on the road.

The car jerked and we pulled into Taylor's driveway. This time I didn't bother honking the horn. I knew that Taylor was waiting by the window like every year.

Sure enough, almost as soon as we pulled in she was out the door and heading towards the car.

I smiled and her and waved and she climbed into the car. I winked at her and she laughed and soon her and Nick were deep into a conversation about something.

I turned back around to face the front. It was no use striking up a conversation with Joe, I knew he wouldn't give one back.

The ride was silent except for small whispers coming from the back.

When we finally pulled into school I felt a wave of relief. At least at school the problems were all interrelated, at home it was always something new.

Joe parked the car and everyone climbed out.

Nick walked beside me with Taylor on the other side and Joe walked a head of all of us.

When we got to the front of the school it was almost time for class and kids were entering the school. Nick and Taylor said their good byes and Nick gave me another peck on the cheek before following the crowd.

Joe had his fists clenched at his sides and I was starting to get pissed off.

"What the hell is the matter with you?" I demanded a little louder than I had planned. It attracted a fair amount of people.

"What's wrong with me? I don't want other guys kissing you" he seethed.

"Well, you're gonna have to get used to it" I said unhappily. He had just ruined my first day.

"That's just it. I am not going to get used to it. Can't you see that he likes you, how can you be so blind" Joe said angrily.

There was now a small gathering of people watching the dispute.

"He doesn't like me alright. I know him. The thing is I don't think that you know me" I shot at him.

"Of course I know you" Joe said a little confused at what this had to do with anything.

"I don't think that you do, because if you did, you would know that it wouldn't matter whether or not he liked me"

"Of course it matters" Joe retorted.

"How?" i questioned

"It would matter because you-" Joe cut off looking for the right words.

"Do you think that if he suddenly liked me I would jump for him?"

Joe didn't answer, but I knew that I had guessed correctly.

"Then you really don't know me" I said disappointedly, "If you knew me you would know that I wouldn't do that".

"But how do I know?" Joe asked his hands unclenched.

I grabbed Joe and pulled him towards me until our mouths met. I kissed him deeply and I could feel his shock at first, but after a few seconds he returned to kiss.
Finally, I pulled away.

"Convinced?" I asked with a hand on my hip.

He just nodded, and that was all I needed.
