Mma is not real fighting! These kids just don't get it.. You haven't seen a skilled knife fighter cut a man to pieces either in the cage.. Does that mean it doest work?
I can see that we are both set in our ways & we wont get anywhere arguing with each other. In my opinion, if this wrist lock or others like it, was a practical move to use in a 1 on 1 fight with a SKILLED opponent i would have seen it (or something like it,) used at least once by now, by someone in mma. If you watch mma such as the UFC you see fighters come from a variety of backrounds. Strikers have to learn how to grapple. Grapplers learn to strike. Akido fighters learn to stay home.
Im not saying he isnt really good at what he does. I just think that that clip wasnt very realistic looking. You have a good point in your last comment. Im sure the guy has plenty of other things he can do.
I know all those guys and you are so wrong. Ask the people at the Kali Group about these locks.
To use these techniques in the tournament would be the wrong techniques for the wrong venue.
These locks and controls are not for contest submissions.
I am also sure that after training with Sifu Harsell, Guro Inosanto, Erik Paulson and the countless others for over two decades that Rick has many useless techniques that he travels around the world demonstrating.
You are obviously not very bright to make a comment like that.
Locks are used after someone has been hit, kicked, eye jabbed, wrestled or whatever. They are hurting bad and then and only then do you put on locks. They are for control when control is ready to be used.
Now I will imitate you....
"DUH....I think I will walk up to someone who is fresh and grab their hand and put this lock on.....DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a grappling tounament at the MN kali group in minneapolis on saturday 1-30-10. I will be in the mens intermediate division. 155-175lbs. If you live near minnesota why dont you enter the tournament and try an arm lock similar to the one in the video & see where it gets you?
Those locks wont work. I do train in jui-jitsu, kickboxing and have about 15 years wrestling experience. Not only is the other arm free, but both legs could also be kicking. That looks like an akido technique and in my experience akido doesn't work. Try putting that lock on a wrestler and see what happens. Why dont you ever see arm locks like this in MMA? Because MMA fighters dont have their head up their buts and would not allow themselves to be but in that spot.

These are not to be used in an MMA fight. That is the part that you miss. This has nothing to do with what goes on in the ring or cage.
Peace.

He does have other things. Good thing that this stuff works like a charm and he does not really need the other stuff.
These locks work every time I have tried them as a bouncer or doorman. Soften them up and they pretty much go where you want them too.
The basic wrist lock done right will have you doing a flip to accommodate the pain in the wrist.
Grappling does not work because I have never seen it done correctly in a phone booth.
The proper venue for the proper technique.

You are so ignorant to leave a comment like that.
First. This is a learning environment not combat.
Second. These locks do work and the extra arm cannot do crap because the locks are effective.
Third. Locks are put on after hitting, eye jabbing and kicking...locks go on after you create the opportunity to use them.
If you were to actually train in the martial arts you might be better educated and would not make such ridiculous statement.
"Duh...these locks won't work...Duh"
Get a clue.
